On the evening of April 1st, I checked the area with Cuckoo flowers again. Although the temperatures were nice the last days, not much Cuckoo flowers were flowering. After I walked through the two meadows for almost an hour, I did not expect to find any butterfly anymore.
But, they fooled me because not much later I found at the end of the big meadow, under a tree, the first Orange-tip, a male. On my way back, on the other side, I found a second Orange-tip, a female. A good relationship often starts with some distance!
The female was sitting in front of the setting sun and I had to run to my car to pick up my camera and beanbag. Although the sun was disappearing behind the forest, I was just in time to catch the last orange light.
As the female was not sitting under a tree, I decided to return this morning to catch the orange light again from the opposite direction. It was a perfect morning with a lot of fog and a red sunrise. At arrival the light was blue and due to the fog the background was almost invisible. The amazing and spooky thing was that the fog suddenly vanished within a few seconds. The sky coloured pink and orange and there she was again.......the sun.
It's amazing to find the first emerged Orange-tips on April 1st!
