With this grey and stormy weather I'm dreaming about the beautiful moments of the past weeks accompanied by a masterpiece of music! Listening to it, it feels like a fusion of positivity and melancholy.....the same feeling I have looking at this image.
Four days ago I was walking through the fresh snow and today the first butterfly of 2017, a Red Admiral, crossed my path when I was out in the forest with Wanda. Next to the Red Admiral I enjoyed the noisy Woodpecker, a group of Fieldfares (Turdus pilaris) and the warmth of the sun......the only thing I missed was a bench and a cappuccino.
Back home I noticed that the first flowering crocuses found their way up through the leafage and I could not resist to catch the first flower. Welcome spring!
Yesterday, together with two friends I visted the Oisterwijkse Vennen with the mission to find back a hibernating Brimstone which they discoverd two months earlier. When we planned this trip the weather forecast was very good: freezing temperatures and a colourful sunrise. In my mind I saw a Brimstone coverd with a layer of ice crystals and red sun reflecions in the background.
But, as often in life, you can't always get what you want!
No Brimestone, no red sunrise, no colours at all but instead fresh snow, all kind of grey shades, one young beech tree and a cozy restaurant with delicious coffee and good conversations.
What else do you need!
This is another one from two weeks ago. Although it was still dark when I entered the area, I could hear their noise and the first groups geese and ducks were leaving.....it was a busy coming and going. I enjoyed the spectacle from the lakeside until the lake was almost empty and quiet.
With any luck the winter and the colourful sunrises will return next weekend.
