Melitaea cinxia - Glanville Fritillary - Veldparelmoervlinder - Wegerich Scheckenfalter
The uppersides range from deep orange to sandy brown with a dark-brown reticulate pattern formed by the veins and cross-lines. The hindwing may be heavily dusted with bronw, but there is always an arc of orange spots near the outer margin and most of thes spots carry a conspicuous black dot in their centres. The underside of the forewing is orange with dark spots and a cream tip. The underside of the hindwing is banded with cream and orange, with the tow orange bands outlined in black. The outer of these bands contains dark spots. Flight from April to September. The larval foodplant is Ribwort Plaintain, but the caterpillars will accept other plantains.
