Erebia euryale - Large Ringlet - Grote erebia - Berg-Mohrenfalter
The male upperside of the forewing is dark brown and the forewing has three or four small eye-spots on an orange post-discal band; often blind and sometimes with white pupils. The upperside of the hindwing resembles the forewing. The udersides of females are paler and different than males. The underside of the female has a greyish post-discal band enclosing a variable numer of eye-spots. The underside of the male is brown without (or blind) eye-spots. Flight from June to August in open wood- and grasslands usually between 1000 and 2000 m. The larval foodplant are a wide range of grasses.
