Melitaea britomartis - Assmann's Fritillary - Oostelijke parelmoervlinder - Östlicher Scheckenfalter
The ground colour of the upperside is orange-brown with a heavy pattern of dark-brown cross-lines. The brown margins vary a lot in width. The fringes are chequered dark and light brown in most specimens (instead of browen and cream as in related fitillaries). The underside of the forewing is dark orange with black spots and a border of well-marked lunules. The underside of the hindwing is banded with cream and dark orange and the marginal band enclosed in two thin black lines is dirty yellow. Flight from May to August in one or two broods in flower-rich grassland and heathland. The larval foodplants are mainly plantains and speedwells.
