Plebejus idas - Idas Blue - Vals Heideblauwtje - Idas-Bläuling
The male upperside of the Idas Blue is a bright blue with black borders. The female is chocolate-brown with orange lunules on the hindwing and sometimes on the forewing as well. The butterflies spend a lot of time resting with their wings closed. Flight from May to September in one or two broods. The larval foodplants are a wide range of leguminous plants and clovers. The habitat of the Idas Blue are rough and stony grasslands up to 2500 metres.
Similar species: Silver-studded Blue which has generally broader black borders and the male has a spine on the front tibia. Riverdin's Blue which can not easily seperated from the Idas Blue.
