Boloria napaea - Mountain Fritillary - Bergparelmoervlinder - Ähnlicher Perlmuttfalter
The upperside is orange with a dark patch in the basal half of the hindwing. The black spots include complete post-discal and submarginal series on each wing, while the discal spots are rather linear. The underside of the forewing is orange with a yellow tip and faint black spots while the underside of the hindwing is largely orange and yellow with white marginal spots. Females are larger and paler than males; their underside of the hindwing is often greenish at the base.
Flight from June to August in stony mountainsides from about 1750 to 3000 metres. The larval foodplants are violets and Alpine Bistort.
Similar species: Shepherd's Fritillary is usually smaller and there is a slight difference in the straightness of the spots on the upperside of the forewing. For identification of both species it's helpfull to see/photograph the female with open wings which is with boloria napaea paler with often a greenish tinge.
