Phengaris teleius - Scarce Large Blue - Pimpernelblauwtje - Heller Wiesenknopf Ameisenbläuling
The male upperside is dull blue with broad, sooty-brown borders and white fringes. Usually there is a row of small spots on both wings, although these spots are sometimes very small or absent. The female is similar but has broader borders and a sooty-brown front edge to the forewing. The undersides of both sexes are greyish brown with conspicuous black post-discal spots and no blue flush on the hindwing. Flight from June to August in one brood. The Scarce Large Blue is an endangered species in Europe and has strong requirements: damp grass/moorland with Great Burnet and special ants.
