Early this week I visted the famous opera Swan Lake performed by the Ballet of the State Opera of Tatarstan and while I was enjoying this wonderful ballet I was longing for 'my' swans. Although the winter weather was perfect last Monday and Tuesday morning, I had to work and only enjoyed the colour explosions in the sky from behind the window of my work area.
This morning there was a little chance for sunlight so I visited the lake area for the first time this winter season; the lake was still frozen but unfortunately the ice-hole was on the other side of the lake and far away. By the time the sun had to rise some fog came up.
Due to the fog the background disappeared and instead of leaving, all the 94 swan's stayed in or near the ice-hole. As winter will not return within the next two weeks I probably will not see them again shortly as they will leave soon.
Yesterday evening I was very happy when it started snowing but unfortunately the majority of the snow melted, except on one place I found out this moring.....the front window of my car.
A few days ago I passed a creek area with my car when I noticed (while driving) the reflections of the rising sun in the water so I decided to visit this small area this morning. Soon after arrival I found out that the creek was'nt meandering enough for beautiful reflections and that a lof of buildings (and a power pylon) were disturbing the background. As not enough time was left to drive to an other area, I had to deal with it.
I hope that snow and freezing temperatures will return soon as I'm longing for a winter fairy tale!
All was quiet when I stepped outside early this morning with Wanda; we enjoyed the first sunrise and sunlight of 2016. In the afternoon I visited a forest area nearby where I discovered earlier an oak tree which has been blown down a few weeks ago.
With the help of my reading glasses I inspected the oak buds hoping to find some eggs of the Purple Hairstreak. Just by the time I started wondering if I would find any egg, I found the first one....in total I only found 4 eggs: 3 on an oak bud and 1 on the twig.
