Boloria selene - Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary - Zilveren maan - Braunfleckiger Perlmutterfalter
On the underside of the hindwing are seven marginal 'pearls' which are edged with black on their inner margins. The central band usually has three silver spots or else the whole band is silver. There are commonly two or three more silvery spots at the base of the wing. There is a large black spot in the otherwise orange cell. The flight is from April to Autust in one or two broods. The larval foodplants are mainly violets, especially Common Dog-violet and Marsh Violet. The Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary is an endangered species in Europe.
