Landschotse Heide - Keienhurk
The Landschotse Heide is a Dutch nature area between Eindhoven and Tilburg which measures 239 hectare. It is a characteristic heath area with wet and dry heath parts and some lakes. The largest lake is the Keijenhurk followed by the Berkven, Wit Holland Ven, Scherpven and Kromven (ven = lake). Due to the lakes a lot of bird species can be found as well as rare insects and plants.
In the past 15 years, I occasionally visited this area for a walk but never regularly. This changed in december 2014 when a friend told me about the group of Bewick's Swans who are visiting this area during some weeks in wintertime. I rediscovered this area for the birds during wintertime.
