Lüneburger Heide - Germany
The Lüneburg Heath (German: Lüneburger Heide) is a large slightly hilly area of heath, wood and some moorland in the northeastern part of the state of Lower Saxony in northern Germany.
I visited this area twice. One week during autumn 2013 and I was overwhelmed by the expanse and quitness of this area. In the woodland I found a lot of mushrooms and never in my life before a saw that much fly agarics. An other highlight were the masses Cranes which were flying over and the encounter with the Viper in the protected Lüneburger Heide.
The second visit was one week in autumn 2016. Due to a dryer and warmer period before, the quantity of mushrooms was not comparable to 2013.
