Callophrys rubi - Green Hairstreak - Groentje - Brombeer Zipfelfalter
The upperside, hardly ever seen at rest, is chocolate-brown, and the only marking is a small oval grey sex-brand near the front edge of the male's forwing. The underside is bright green in fresh specimens, with a light brown patch at the rear of the forewing. There is sometimes a row of small white dots on both wings, but most specimens have just a few white dots on the hindwing and some have no dots at all. The green scales fall easily, and older specimens may look quite brown on the underside. The outer edge of the hindwing is slightly scalloped. Flight from April to July in one brood. The larval foodplants include rock-rose, Gorse, Broom, Bird's-foot Trefoil, Heather, Bramble, Raspberry, Cranberry and other plants.
