Boloria aquilonaris - Cranberry Fritillary - Veenbesparelmoervlinder - Hochmoor Perlmutterfalter
The ground colour of the upperside is usually bright orange, although often somewhat paler, with a strong pattern of black streaks and spots. The discal spots on the forewing are often V-shaped and frequently linked to form a conspicuous zig-zag line. There is a large dark area at the base of the hindwing. The underside of the forewing is orange with yellow spots at the tip and fairly heavy black spotting. The underside of the hindwing is largely rust-red with white spotes including a conspicuous white patch right at the base and a rather square spot in the middle of the front margin. The marginal spots are silvery white. Flight in June and July. Lives in Bogs and wet heaths were the larval foodplant, Cranberry, is common.
